Hadrian's Wall Path

Stunning architecture, picturesque parks, and a bloody history are all waiting to be explored in Hexham. Hexham is home to the beautiful Sele Park, floral gardens in the town center, and the stunning grounds of Hexham House. Beneath the charming market town, Hexham holds a bloody history of marauding Vikings, and England’s first purpose-built prison, the Old Gaol, which can be traced back to the 1300s.
You’re spoilt for choice for great places to eat and drink in Corbridge. They have some of the best pubs, cafes and coffee shops in the region. Other treats include larders and farm shops supplying locally sourced produce, independent local stores such as jewellery, footwear, homeware and clothing.

St Oswald's Way
St Oswald’s Way is a long-distance walking route, exploring some of the finest landscapes and fascinating history of Northumberland. From Holy Island (Lindisfarne) in the north, St. Oswald’s Way follows the stunning Northumberland coast, before heading inland across beautiful countryside to Heavenfield and Hadrian’s Wall in the south, a distance of 97 miles (156 km). You will find castles, coastline, islands, scenic river valleys, hills, attractive villages, forest and farmland on your walk.
West Northumberland is bursting with outdoor activities. Just a five minute drive is Matfen Go Ape, a high ropes course suitable for all abilities. Other activities include horse trekking centres, outdoor swimming, cycling routes & lots more. Local championship golf courses include Matfen, Slaley, Hexham and Close House.
